This Udhauli festival is called from different names from different groups. Such as Rai call it Sakela, Limbu call it Chasok Tangnam, and other might call it Bhume, Folsyandar etc.

This is celebrated two time in one year. Ubhauli is celebrated during the full moon of April/May to denote the commence of cultivation and farming where as Udhauli festival is celebrated during the full moon of November/December thanking gods for giving nice crops and harvesting. The program was organized by Kirat Ykthung Chumlung and Kirat Rai Yayokkha. It has been organizing the program every twice in a year. Chitra Tumbahangphe became the Silimangpa of Limbu. Chyabrung dance was also performed in the event. Dhol and Jhyamta were also used during dancing. The style of dance movement called sili were different for different ethnicity. Many kind of sili were performed including Chamling, Bantawa, Bahing, Limbu and Lohorung. Many attendees were dressed in cultural style. The women wore Chawbandi cholo and Guneu with patuka. The men wore Dhaka topi and daura suruwal.

The event went quite well except some misunderstandings with fooding of typical food like pork meat, beaten rice with Jhand (special kind of liquor of Kiratis). It was a great fun to be the part of the event.

सोई सोई ला हो हुर्रा हा हा ................. !
Feed Link
Ashish Lohorung Raihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14505312364990135030noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34067747.post-12625674447092992422009-04-07T19:44:00.003+05:452009-04-07T19:50:22.564+05:45Updating from AustraliaI know my blog is nearly dead. It is believed that from this day the winter season starts. So people, birds and animal migrate from cold regions to warmer regions. This kind of migration occurs twice in a year. The celebration of migrating downwards during this season is called "Udhauli (उधौली)" and the celebration of migrating upwards during the season of Baisakh (April or May) is called "Ubhauli (उभौली)".

Kirati people performs a speacial kind of dance called "Sakela" in this event playing various muscial instruments like Dhol, Jhyamta etc and wearing "Chhit ko Guneu" (specially patterened cloth) by Kirati women. This event of Kirati people has also been stated in Mundhum (holy book of Kirati people). This event is also called "Bhumi Puja" (Worship of Land) where Kirati people worship mother nature asking for good cultivation of crops during the season of April and thanking the god for giving good crops during this current season.

The legend of the celebration of Sakela as stated in Wikipedia is as follows:

The celebration is connected to many myths. According to the Kirat Mythology, it is said that before the marriage of Sumnima and Paruhang, Paruhang used to live in the heaven .One day, he saw beautiful Sumnima on the earth and fell in love. He made a beautiful comb, sent it to Sumnima who wished wed him.
Four children were born of them after marriage. But Paruhang left Sumnima in a hut on the bank of Dudhkoshi River and did not return for long time. One day, she saw a creeper on a stone while she was in search of food for her children. She tasted the creeper and it was full of power and happiness. She brought the creeper and made Buti, an intoxicating religious garland, and kept it safe. The Buti inspired everybody who saw it to tell the truth of her/his life. Paruhang returned suddenly. He tried to counsel angry Sumnima. She gave the Buti to Paruhang. This immediately made him glad and he started to tell what he had done. He had spent the time looking at the heaven and the earth from the top of Chomolongma (Mt. Everest ). He also said her that he had meditated, and visited the whole universe. Paruhang promised not to leave her, which made Sumnima dance with joy. It is believed the dance is the 'Sakela Dance'. For this reason, tradition is also that young boys and girls comes to participate this dancing festival to meet each other and find their love.

तपैहरुलाई यो चाड कस्तो लाग्छ ? कमेन्ट गरेर आफ्नो बिचार दिनुहोस । हैप्पी सकेला....!!
Feed Link
Ashish Lohorung Raihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14505312364990135030noreply@blogger.com13tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34067747.post-40860389296262908792008-12-03T10:02:00.008+05:452008-12-03T11:05:30.911+05:45Constructive design criticism of suzannefranco.comSuzaane Franco has been running suzannefranco.com and recently became second in the competition named Blogging Idol 2 after a tie breaker getting equal marks of 3, with the first Happy Schools Blog. Being a mother of three kids she enjoys internet marketing which she has been doing for about eight years. Living in Texas Hill country in USA, she has hobbies of beach, river, lake, pool, boating, traveling. She also enjoys playing Tennis very much.

So why she loves internet marketing so much? Let's read in her own words:

I believe that Zig Ziglar (love him!) had the right idea when he said, “If you help enough people get what they want … you’ll get what you want.” I want to build and run a successful online business. And I truly believe that if I help others build and run their own successful online businesses (which is just totally in my personality anyway) … I’ll reach my goals too.

Recently I have commented in Blogging Tips about the design of her blog could be little more attractive. She replied me saying she likes constructive criticism very much and love to get any comments from anybody. So I have come up with this idea of posting this blog with the commented version of the design of her blog site. Though there could be other things to put up more I would be glad to see those comments because this is just my trying. Any kind of comments are warmly welcome because these comments are not full and final.

Here is the commented version of suzannefranco.com.

NOTE: Any kind of comments are highly encouraged to apply. Here in Nepal many different IPs related organizations including our Lohorung Yakhkhama Yuyong (Lohorung Women Organization) also took part in that event. LYY has exhibited food stall and Dhaka cloths at Dasarath Stadium during the event period of three days. That day was the last day of a week long event where many different types of games such as Badminton, Traditional Archery etc were held.
The final day started from a rally at Khulamanch, Ratnapark where many indigenous peoples gathered before setting off. NGO-Federation of Nepalese Indigegnous Nationalities (NGO-FONIN) had been organizing "Singnature Campaign". Finally about two kilometers long cloth signatured by different people of the Kathmandu valley were asked to carry by the people taking part in that rally. It was really a unique and fun experience for me to help them to ask different people at the roadside for asking to do signature and distributing pamplates.

The rally enden at Dasarath Stadium where many political leaders gave speech about indigenous peoples including the speaker of the current house of representative Mr. Subash Nembang.

Feed Link
Ashish Lohorung Raihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14505312364990135030noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34067747.post-47329570635985362622008-08-04T17:31:00.007+05:452008-08-04T18:04:41.335+05:45August 9: World Indigenous Day 2008Coming August 9 is the 16th World Indigenous Day for 2008. Many different organizations are celebrating it with many programs. NGO-FONIN is organizing "Signature Campaign" in different parts of the valley to raise the voices and issues of indigenous peoples of Nepal.

Dear all,
Namaste/Jhorle

As IPs are celebrating the August 9 as world indigenous peoples day, we are also organizing some of the activities on the occasion. Specifically, we have focused the activities connecting with CA. As the CA is an opportunity for us to raise voice to have a constitution written addressing IPs and other marginalized peoples issues, the activities will be as: signature campaign, submitting appeal to respective CA representative and authorities, so that it could support on creating pressure as well as making aware the respective authorities.

The signature collection campaign has been already stated from 3rd August, which will be carried out till the 9 August and the appeal will be submitted to each CA members (during CA Meeting) organizing a press conference. The date for submitting of the appeal will be decided later (the date will be decided consulting the respective authority) At the mean time we will also be involved in the activities, organized by other IPs and likeminded organizations. We need to make collective effort towards influencing the concerns.

We would also like to request all members, district networks to involve or organize same kinds of activities. For your kind information and references the copy appeal, pamphlets and letter are attached herewith, please find them.

Lalkumari Roca
Rights and Advocacy Officer
NGO-FONIN

More pictures and information you can find at Lohorung Khanawa and NEFIN Website. That means 99.29% of the voting was in the support of abolishing the 240 years of monarchy. This historic event is the world's latest great event forming the new republic nation witnessed by all over the world.

I here welcome this new era of democracy which is being called as "New Nepal". Though there is a lot more problems to solve I am quite optimistic about it. I personally suggest everyone to write about this historic event so that you couldn't forget anything about it coz this is the time that nobody will behold in his entire life again. We are the lucky one to behold this one and only life time experience about which the new generations will be going to ask so many questions about it. So just be prepared for it collection some data and the process how the event took place.

The first meeting of forming the new constitution took place at BICC building on 28th May 2008. The meeting was supposed to start at 11 am but due to the delay it only started at 9 pm at night.

Maoists and Nepali Congress is fighting again for the post of president and prime minister post. The new government will be directed the prime minister as the executive head and president will be kept as ceremonial. So whoever will become president will be the first president in the history of Nepal. So the quarrel is going there again like a small child fighting for a same toy. बच्चाहरु को झगडा ।

Anyway some divine power may give them some nice thinking inside their head I will pray for it otherwise the Nepali citizen will pay for their children fighting thing.

Long live Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal !!

संघीय लोकतांत्रिक गणतंत्र जिन्दाबाद !!

Read more about the declaration
About Nepal on Wikipedia
Feed Link
Ashish Lohorung Raihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14505312364990135030noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34067747.post-316797902392944272008-05-23T16:23:00.005+05:452008-11-14T01:43:30.007+05:45Inside the sujin.com.np virusSome time ago you might have heard about this virus which automatically put sujin.com.np on top of the IE browser. like that to fool the users. Some of the things it does in our system are as follows:

1. It disables the registry: When you go to Run and type "regedit" you cannot see the registry.
2. It puts the string sujin.com.np at the title of the browser.
3. It disables the folder option .
4. It disables the task manager which can be used against the running programs.

The virus can be removed using the download page of worldlink but hey the antivirus kept there is also the program developed by Sujin Joshi who developed the virus. Yesterday in the morning at 7 am we all family planned to go for voting near our home. Our home is located at Kathmandu election area number 8, Sitapaila VDC. This VDC consists of three voting centers. Ours is located at Yuba Sahabhagita High School. When we reached there we were stunned to see the long queue of people willing to vote. Father was saying that everyone wants to vote soon so it would be traffic. But we all too wanted to vote sooner.

We soon took the appropriate women and men queue. There we stood about one hour then Father decided to come back home and vote at the evening. But I stayed there though I was hungry and my stomach was not so right in the morning. After 2 and half hours only I got my chance to vote. I was exhausted and hungry and soon after voting I returned home and had lunch. I hope the new constitution will address everyones' rights and issues.

For more information about the CA Election and the future government follow the links:

Election Commission Nepal
Feed Link
Ashish Lohorung Raihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14505312364990135030noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34067747.post-49861657814278813242008-04-06T09:25:00.009+05:452008-04-08T09:54:02.278+05:45Being the witness of first Constituent Assembly election of NepalIn the history of Nepal, for the first time the election of Constituent Assembly is going to take place on 10th April 2008 which will write a new constitution without a monarchism. It is the honor and luck of all Nepali citizen to behold and experience this one and only in a lifetime happening. After postponing for two times this election is going to held with lot of excitement and optimism. It is already declared to write as a Republic Nepal but the implementation has not done. So how will be the practical end of 240 years of monarchy is going to happen? Answer lies after the role of the government to be formed after the election.

Official 74 various political parties are taking part in the CA election including some King supported ones. I personally think that those King sided parties are going to lose with huge difference. I mock those parties a really big and huge THUMBS DOWN! wishing them a very much bad luck in the present and in the future.

Altogether there will be 601 various representatives. 240 of them is chosen from direct election and 335 is chosen from proportional election. 26 are selected among the national icons and famous persons of Nepal. The result of the election is said to be declared within 21 days after the day of election. The newly formed government is going to hold for 2 years and could be extended for 6 months in case of emergency. The majority representation meeting is held by the 1/4 th of total number of representatives. People 18 years or above are eligible for voting and 17.5 million people are eligible according to the Election Commission of Nepal.

Everybody know that one of the three major parties among Nepali Congress, CPN (UML) and The Maoists will form the future government. But which party will be able to make it? In my personal opinion there is big chance of Maoists because all the people have already given votes to the other ones and seen what they could do. There is only one new and fresh party though having a bad history and that is Maoists. They are the one who cured our wounds and treated us like doctor. Till now also there are not enough doctors in the village and the people have to be dependant to them only.

In the movie there is a girl named Kripa. She has been raised by a man who is deaf called Ode. The role of Ode is played by the director of the film Maotse Gurung. Kripa goes to stay with Ode's sister in the city. After some years she comes back to the village but finds herself in difficult situation with Ode's relationship. It happened on the 5 th of this month. Due to that incident my mother is very vulnerable and touchy. His condition is very serious though it is recovering very slowly. We can't say anything till now. He is lying in bed all the time. He can talk slowly. Lila Mama called my mother saying he wanted to meet his all children. So she is going with my father and some relatives tomorrow to meet him at Bhaluwa Chauri at Dharan.

My grandfather's name is Man Bahadur Jimi. He has done many social service works in his village ie. Madi of Shankhuwasabha. He is also the active member of Nepali Congress in the village. The list of things which he has done is very long and I think he deserves more respect from the party and the villager. Recently his party and Maoists welcomed him in the village with great event. The plus point of him as every single person says is that he works all the time. He never retires. He was working till he got the seizure. Everybody complains him about his hard work in this age.

I have to write more about him in the future. This is just praying for his good health recover. He is one of my idol in this life. I must learn many things from his sacrifices and hard working attitude. I pray to god he will be all right soon. I will be grateful to you all if pray for him.

Long live my grandfather!
Feed Link
Ashish Lohorung Raihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14505312364990135030noreply@blogger.com1
